grace bible fellowship prayer ministry
The Purpose of Prayer is that God’s desires may be demonstrated on earth. When we pray, God’s will shall be done. Prayer helps you to focus on God. It helps you get to know him better. The psalmist said, “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always” (Psalm 105:4, NIV). When you pray, you “unplug” your mind from the television and CD player and “plug in” to God.
KEY VERSE: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
Prayer is a vital weapon in making right choices.
If you want to stop lying, pray; praying will add God’s power to your desire. If you want to be more loving toward your brother, pray; that will add God’s help to your good intentions. If you need more patience, more compassion, or more self-control, pray; prayer will add God’s energy to your efforts.
The Privilege of Prayer.
What an amazing thing that the God of the universe, the one who created all there is and sustains it by His power; the one who is radiant and holy and full of glory, has invited us to come into His presence and pour our hearts out before Him in this thing we call prayer. Jesus admonishes us in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto you.” Remember—when we pray, prayers go up to Heaven in worship, out into the world in work, and down to hell in warfare.
